Falasarna beach is located 59km west of Chania and it is one of the most famous beaches in Greece. That is because it has been voted in the past as the best beach in Crete and one of the 10 best beaches in Europe. The sand is white making it look quite exotic.

Paleochora

Is located 70 km south west from the city of Chania. Paleochora is built on a peninsula and has many rooms and apartments, cafes and bars and is famous for the beach “Pahia Ammos” (thick beach). Marathi is located in Akrotiri about 17 km east of the city of Chania. Because it has a southern orientation, it is usually windless and peaceful, in relation to the other northern coasts of Crete. It has two beautiful organized beaches, with sand and shallow waters, ideal for families with children. The beaches are separated by a small port and its pier. Stavros is a seaside village located 17 km northeast of Chania, near the northern tip of Akrotiri. Characteristic of the area is the mountain Vardies in the shape of a camel that rises opposite the port of the village with the cave of Stavros. The scenes of the movie “Zorba the Greek” were shot on this mountain, where Anthony Quinn danced the famous sirtaki in 1964.

Ancient Olive Tree Vouves

In a short distance from Chania, just 25 km away, you will reach the ancient olive tree of Vouves. Located in the small village of Vouves, the huge olive tree is the oldest in the world – more than 3000 years according to professionals of the field. The olive tree still produces olives and branches of the tree were used to weave head bands for the winners of the Olympic Games of Athens in 2004 and the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
